Invest in YOU

invest in you

What investments have you made in YOU?

I attended EntrepreNewHER, a networking event hosted by Shan Thomas, at the Fernbank Museum this past weekend. The event was awesome! The panel of amazing business women were as follows: Marshiela Hall, Mernice “Coach Mo” Oliver, Danielle V. Jackson, Chris Quintana, Keena Be, Cassandra Bradford, Dannella Burnett, Delores Bunch-Keemer, Tosha Bailey and Yalanda “Dryer Buzz” Lattimore. These women poured into the audience stories of their lives, their journeys to enterprenewHERship, and the secrets to their success.  On the way home, I thought about the connections I would have missed if I had decided to spend my Saturday at home on the couch watching television.

My questions for you today: Are you investing in YOU? Are YOU being effective? How are YOU maximizing YOUR life? Attending networking events, business meetings, meet-ups, expos, and classes are great ways to recondition your mind and invest in you. Someone may share something at an event that may change your life or your way of thinking. Knowledge is power! Surrounding yourself with a group of like-minded people is essential to your personal growth and the growth of your business. Hearing someone’s story or sharing your personal struggles can be the confirmation you need to affirm you are on the right path. The stories and struggles can also help you to realign and reposition your thoughts and get on the path to success.

What does reposition mean? Dictionary.com defines the prefix re- as, “back” or “again” indicating return to previous condition, restoration, withdraw. etc. rebuild, renew, retrace, reunite, regenerate. How can you reposition your life, your business, and your relationships? I learned from the panel that simply changing your thoughts can be what you needed to reposition yourself and tap into your destiny. Coach Mo, one of the speakers, referenced the aged old saying, “the power of life and death are in the tongue.” If you wake up every day believing that you are going to have a bad day, you will have a bad day. If you believe your business will fail, guess what, it will fail.

Are you speaking life or death over your business? YOU are responsible for your thoughts and YOUR actions. Reposition YOURSELF. Engage in relationships with people who believe in you and want you to succeed. Join a tribe of women who are willing to tell you the truth. One positive thought in the morning can change your entire day. Be active, be engaged, but most of all, believe in YOU. Invest in YOU. You are worth it.
